Frisbie and HBL Group partner to recognize student artists

Frisbie Memorial Hospital and HBL Group, LLC have teamed up and will be awarding scholarships to three high school seniors each year through an initiative that recognizes the artistic talents of students from surrounding communities. Beginning September 2015 and running through May 2016, a series of Student Art Exhibits, featuring artwork by students of Spaulding, Somersworth, and Farmington High Schools, will be displayed in Frisbie’s Community Gallery, which is a space dedicated to honoring local and regional artists located in the hospital’s ground floor lobby. According to Greg Hopkins, Partner at HBL Group, LLC, “We are proud to partner with Frisbie Memorial Hospital to recognize local students for their talents. We are honored to be involved with a community leader like Frisbie.”

The Student Art Exhibits will rotate out monthly to provide opportunity for each of the three schools’ artwork to be displayed. Each month, Frisbie staff may cast a vote for the “Artist of the Month.” Artwork by students from each of the three high schools will be displayed as follows:

  • Spaulding: September, March, and May
  • Somersworth: October, December, and February
  • Farmington: November, January, and April

In early June 2016, artwork by each of the nine “Artists of the Month” will be displayed in Frisbie’s Community Gallery. Members of the general public will have the opportunity to cast votes for the “Artist of the Year.” A total of three scholarships will be awarded to those students – one from each of the three schools – receiving the most votes. The student with the most votes overall will be the “Artist of the Year” and will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship. The other two students will be awarded a $500 scholarship each.

“We are very excited about this project. Through Frisbie’s Community Gallery, we are able to showcase to the public artwork by students who live in the greater Rochester area, and believe it is important to support, through endeavors such as this, these talented young adults,” said John Marzinzik, President/CEO at Frisbie Memorial Hospital.
